About

My name is David Eran, I am a licensed landscape architect in Israel since 1979.

In 1959 I graduated Kaduri Argicultural High School, which first exposed me to working with plants. Following the army service, I joined Kibbutz Netiv Halamed Hey in 1962, where I worked and later managed the deciduous orchards branch.

In the summer of 1978, I graduated my BSc. in Landscape Architecture, at Calif. State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California.

As a member of a kibbutz, my professional staring point was as a Landscape Architect at the Planning Department of the United Kibbutz Movement, where I planned projects on many kibbutzim and regional municipalities throughout Israel.

I later joined the landscape architecture office of Seigal- Deckel- Miller, which has since changed its name to Tichnun Nof Ltd., and is currently named Mina’ad Ltd.

In 1996 I opened my private office which is active to this day.

During approx. 40 years of professional work, I have been actively participating in a vast number of projects, of various scales and types. Among them are large-scale new neighborhoods, highways, development areas, vegetation planning, sport and recreation facilities and also private residential projects.

I am one of the first mature tree surveyors in Israel. I have completed many surveys and participated in efforts to implement and further improve the procedures.
For several years, I was the landscape architect advisor to the National Committee for Research Infrastructures (VATAL).

I also worked as an instructor at three institutions, teaching Landscape Engineers the subjects of planting design, landscape detailing and bid preparation.

I have an interest and appreciation for the importance of documenting historic gardens and have done several documentation files.

I am a contributing professional member in the magazine “Papirus” (formerly “Gan veNof”- “Garden and landscape”) and have published articles as well as given lectures, mostly on garden planning and maintenance.

The main goal of establishing my web site is to present, in a concentrated manner, the professional knowledge, experience and insights that I have gained during the course of my work years.

The topics that are of most interest to me are plant vegetation, water and soil in the landscape, and these will be the first issues to be presented on this site.

An important component of the site will be a new tool that I have specially developed for the use of an architect, landscape engineer and gardener, to assist in plant selection. For many years, I have felt a lack of a professional and comprehensive tool that provides the proper guidance, to implement vegetation programs for various projects requirements.

At this point, the tool is in preparation stages and I hope that within just a few months, it will contain the first large group of cover plants.

I should emphasize, that everything presented in this site is my opinion and personal impression, and mistakes (if found), are just mine!

I welcome your feedback, suggestions and comments.
